Characteristics

Enhanced corrosion resistance

Nauticalloy 22HS exhibits superior corrosion resistance performance compared to conventional marine grades including 1.4401-316 and 1.4404-316L stainless steels. The balanced chemical composition provides exceptional resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking in aggressive marine environments.

Non-magnetic characteristics

The austenitic microstructure ensures consistent non-magnetic properties, making this grade particularly suitable for applications requiring minimal magnetic permeability, such as submarines and precision marine instrumentation systems.

Exceptional strength-to-weight ratio

The optimised chemistry delivers outstanding mechanical properties whilst maintaining ductility and toughness characteristics essential for marine propeller shaft applications.

Marine applications and benefits

Nauticalloy 22HS is extensively specified for marine shafting, bolting and rigging applications, where its combination of high strength and corrosion resistance provides exceptional service life and reliability.

Applications extend to marine pumps, valves, masts, tie-downs, fixtures and fittings, where the material's properties ensure reliable performance under severe operating conditions.
